In most cases, keeping your lubrication systems in tip-top shape requires very little regular maintenance — as in your car or truck, regular filter changes may be all that is required. We recommend that be done yearly.
In 24/7 operation applications such as compressors in gas transmission, we recommend that components also be pressure tested and verified yearly. The procedure is relatively simple, takes just a few hours, and can prevent service issues that might make your boss or gas control unhappy.
For very critical and/or high-pressure applications such as compressors in refineries, gas storage facilities or CNG compressors, we need to be more diligent. Filter changes and pressure testing are a good start, but complete replacement of the most important hydraulic components, including pumps, divider blocks and check valves, may be warranted each year. Consider it an insurance policy — it’s a low premium cost compared to what it will cost you if the compressor fails and your process goes down.
