Pumps

Sloan Brothers provides pumps for compressor, engine and critical process equipment lubrication. We have parts or complete replacements in stock to ship the same day you call.

Some may think “a pump is a pump” — until they get into trouble with misapplications due to an applied pump’s inability to do the job. Sloan Brothers knows that a pump isn’t just a pump — that a proper application can make or break your lubrication system.

Over the years, hundreds of pump models have been made by many different manufacturers in tens of thousands of variations. It takes special expertise to sort out what is obsolete, what is inappropriate, what can be improved upon and how to either replace or properly design pumps for current applications. Sloan Brothers has that expertise, and we will help you figure out which pump style is best for your machinery.

Types of Pumps

Most pumps are commonly referred to as “box lubricator” pumps and are mounted in a reservoir and driven by a cam on a shaft. We can provide varying piston sizes and operating speeds for different applications depending on the volumes required.

Other pumps are often called “bosch” because they were originally built around a diesel injector module. These include the PLP, MVB and MCLP pumps. We stock these too, but most applications can be better served with the smaller and less expensive box lubricator pumps.

Styles of pumps vary depending on the application. A “vacuum” style has a sight glass where delivery drops can be counted and outputs adjusted accordingly. These supply themselves from the oil in the reservoir in which they operate. This style is typical where each individual pump serves one lubrication point and no delivery protection is required.

The other style is “pressurized” supply, which has no sight glass and accepts its supply from an overhead or pressurized source. This style normally feeds a network of divider blocks which accurately distribute positive displacements of oil to the various lube points required. These systems are normally electronically monitored for delivery protection.
