Sloan Brothers Co. was incorporated in October 1922 by its founders: John, Paul and Walter Sloan.

The initial business focus was mechanical lubricators used in heavy industry, steam-to-water heat exchanges and steam traps. The company was the first distributor for Manzel lubricators in Buffalo, NY, which became part of Lubriquip and was absorbed into Graco a few years ago.

After Naval service in WWII, Walter’s son John Sloan joined the company, as had his sister Margaret, becoming the second generation to operate the company successfully. The focus during this time shifted to accurate and protected lubrication systems for the fast-growing natural gas transmission industry.

In 1971, Walter R. Sloan II joined the company part-time, then became full-time after earning his bachelor’s degree. The third generation to run Sloan Brothers also included Walter’s brother Andrew, who joined the company after a career in Naval Aviation. Leveraging improvements in lube system technology, the company branched further into compressor applications in refining and other industries.

In 2003, Walter’s son C.J. came aboard, joined in 2008 by brothers Eric and Brian. With this fourth generation of our family dedicated to serving our customers and continuing our company’s success, Sloan Brothers has moved into a new facility and expanded internal manufacturing capabilities.

Over four generations, more than 20 family members have been involved in the operation and ownership of the company. Our family isn’t all business, but our business is certainly all about family. Each generation has promised to keep the business vital so it will be available to the next if they choose to become involved. Each has kept that promise through dedication to perfection in the art and science of lubrication. We remain as committed as ever to looking for innovative ways to improve our products.
